Edith Philander

Edith was the daughter of Charles Thebus, Chief Scout Commissioner for the Coloured Association during the 1960s, and wife of Alex Philander, former Divisional Commissioner, Cape Western Area for 12 years. Edith passed away on 12 July 1994 after a long illness.


Edith herself was Pack Scouter of 1st Wynberg, an ADC and a member of the Training Team.


1st Wynberg Cub Pack in 1954 and their Akela Edith Philander. From all the trophies in the foreground, they must have been in the 1950's one of the top Packs in their Division.
