Western Cape Join in Jamborees, Jamborallies and Country Rallies[edit]

The first Scout Jamboree was held in England in 1920 and was attended by Scouts from 34 countries. The Western Cape held their first Jamboree in 1921 and the first South African National Jamboree took place in East London in 1936.

The timeline below includes some regional jamborees where there was a Western Cape presence.

Quote: At various parts of the ground two Scout brass bands belonging to 1st Observatory and Nazareth House Troops respectively discoursed sweet music, and their bandmasters are to be congratulated on the proficiency to which they have brought these young performers.

In 1971 the idea of a "Join-in-Jamboree" developed by South African Vic Clapham was promoted and accepted internationally during Nordjamb '75. Report

Cubs joined in on the Sunday and had their Cub Fun Day CW9 held an international cooking competition at Kenilworth Centre
CW12 held a two day Join-in-Jamboree at Gilcape

Join in Jamboree 'Scout Bonanza' – 29 to 30 September
The Join-in-Jamboree symbol represented the waves of friendship that rise from international gatherings of Scouts and flow around the world spreading the spirit of the Scout brotherhood.
Cubs joined in on the Sunday.
