Adventure Badge Activities
Task 3: Know what a compass looks like and what it does.
Time: 10 - 15 minutes
Equipment: Compass Templates, Scissors, Glue, Thumbtacks, Paper Plates.
It is best to use 160g paper board instead of normal paper.
Method:
Meerkats will cut out all the components to make a compass. Use the paper plates as a base, and glue the compass face to the paper plate to secure it. Some Meerkats might find it challenging to cut the star and pointer out, but they will try their best. A parent can assist with cutting the pointer out, it is a small piece to handle. You can either glue the pointer or use the thumbtack to secure it to the compass face. The Meerkats can move it in specific directions when you use a thumbtack. Secure the pin at the back with a piece of prestik or something similar.
