Equipment

  • One metal bucket or crate to stand on
  • A cricket bat or short stave
  • A ball (tennis ball or larger soft ball)

How to play

  1. The scouts form a circle facing inwards. In the centre, place a metal bucket upside down. The batter stands on top of the bucket with a bat. The fielding team is outside the circle.
  2. The batter defends the bucket from the fielding team throwing the ball at the bucket by hitting the ball.
  3. The batter is out when the ball hits the bucket, is caught by a fielder on a fly, or he falls off the bucket.
  4. Two runs are scored for each time a batter hits a ball that is not caught and one run each time the ball is thrown at the bucket and misses or is not and is not batted.
