The chain hitch is a strong method of fastening a line to a spar or thick rope where one has a rope of sufficient length. It is tied as a chain of half hitches around the object, sometimes with a handle inserted underneath a half hitch to allow easier pulling.
Uses
The chain hitch is used to haul in a large rope or timber when one has sufficient length of a thinner rope.
