Half Hitch

The half hitch is a simple knot, where the working end of a line is brought over and under the standing part.
Although this knot is insecure on its own, it is a valuable component of a wide variety of hitches, bends, and knots.
When a half hitch is added after a timber hitch the knots becomes known as the Killick Hitch
