I was involved in Scouting from from the mid 60’s through to the early 80’s

I started in Cubs at 3rd Bergvliet and later 3rd Windhoek before returning to Bergvliet as a Scout in 1968.

In 1970 while attending boarding school at Wynberg Boys High, I was a Scout with the 1st Kenilworth Troop going on to achievie my Springbok Scout and being awarded the Chief Scouts Award.

As a Scout and senior Patrol Leader I was also involved with the Cub Pack going on to becoming a Pack Scouter in 1975 through to 1977. My pack name was Baloo. I achieved my Cub Wood Badge in 1977.

At the end of 1977 I left to complete my military training.

In 1980, now working on the mines in Randfontein, I became the Scout Master for the 1st Randfontein Scout Troop for a period before briefly getting involved with 3rd Krugersdorp.
