Assistant Den Scouter

Purpose

To assist and support the effective implementation of the Meerkat Programme in the Meerkat Den in accordance with the SCOUTS South Africa (SSA) Constitution, Organisational Rules and Policies.

To develop and support and educate the youth members.

About

Assistant Den Scouters are an extremely valuable part of a Den, to keep the ratio of trained adults to Meerkats high. A Meerkat Den has a maximum of 16 Meerkats. It is optimal for there to be a Den Scouter and one or more Assistant Den Scouters (ADS). An ADS receives the same training as a Den Scouter and should be able to run the Den on occasion in the absence of the DS. Minimum training is the two day Introduction to Adult Leadership course.
