Games are one of the tools we use to train cubs and scouts, games have many benefits to the child:
- Steam release games - allow some boisterous release of excitement, and can be used to warm up bodies on a cold winter's evening.
- Relay games - allows all members of a burrow/six/patrol to get a chance to compete.
- Team Race games - where the children work in their team to achieve a goal before the other team/burrow/six/patrol. This add the element of collaboration and synergies to games, and for the older children, delegation and leadership skills.
Gamification introduces fun and competitiveness into the training situation, it is used to hold the attention and removes some anxieties and self consciousness that may be associated with formal training.
