Computer Pilot Scoutcraft Badge

The Computer Pilot Scoutcraft Badge is designed for the junior Scout as a "lead-in" badge for Air Planner Scoutcraft Badge and Air Traffic Controller Interest Badge.

Badge Requirements

Computer Pilot

Note: The badge requirements can be completed on any suitable simulator, e.g. Flight Simulator 2020, Infinite Flight 2011 or Flight School Simulator 2017.

1. Discuss the various instruments on an aircraft instrument panel and explain their function.
2. Carry out start procedure and execute "Take-offs", fly a circuit and land. Use to be made of flaps, retractable undercarriage etc. if installed on the simulator.
3. Take-off and carry out 2 cross country flights and land at either the same or a different airfield.
4. Take-off and carry out the following manoeuvres:
   1. A controlled turn to the left and right.
   2. Climb to a designated altitude and descend to another designated altitude.
   3. Fly a loop, roll and a stall turn.

Safe From Harm: Whilst completing the requirements for this badge, Scouts must not be placed in hazardous or dangerous situations under any circumstances. All activities must comply with SCOUTS South Africa Safe from Harm framework and be supervised by responsible adults. Participation should offer meaningful learning or service experiences while ensuring the Scout's safety and well-being at all times.
