This is an annual event on the Gauteng region.

2023 Event

This year we would encourage Rover crews as well as Scouter teams to enter.

  • Date: 3 June 2023
  • Time: 08:30 to 18:00
  • Venue: Camp Delta
  • PLEASE note that each Troop/ Pack needs to hand in their own event permit.

Bring a bicycle repair kit.

To register a team you need to fill in the online registration form.


Cub Race

Race starts 10:00

Only named riders (max 6) may form part of the team, no replacements or additions allowed.

Scout, Rover, Guide, Ranger Guide, Scouter Race

Race starts 13:45

  • Juniors with teams members aged between 11 and 14. Only named riders (max 5) may form part of the team, no replacements or additions allowed.
  • Seniors with team members aged between 15 and 18. A team with one or more members and over will compete in the Senior section. Only named riders (max 4) may form part of the team, no replacements or additions
  • Open section is available for all other entrants... (Scouters and Rovers). Only named riders (max 3) may form part of the team, no replacements or additions
  • Team Spirit trophy for the best dressed team/decorated bike.


Rules

This event is open to all members of SCOUTS SA.

Entries are accepted on condition that competing teams agree to operate under the rules and on strict understanding that only the official lap records can be accepted.

  1. Penalties may be imposed for any breach of these rules.
  2. All cycles must have brakes.
  3. All breakdowns must be repaired in the pit area. The lap on which the breakdown occurred must be completed with the bicycle to get to the pit area to execute the repair.
  4. Rider change over may only take place in the pit area.
  5. The team baton must be passed between riders in the pit area during change over.
    • The baton must be clearly visible to the lap counter and pit marshal.
    • Any rider without a baton will be removed from the circuit and the team penalised 10 laps.
  6. All cycles must have the official number affixed to the front of the handle bars AND the right side of the bike.
    • Numbers must also be easily identifiable and not obstructed by anything on the bike. (Minimum size 200mm x 200mm).
    • If this number is not clearly visible and clean, laps will NOT be counted.
    • Numbers will be issued upon registration and payment of entry fee or upon pre-registration by email.
  7. Each rider must have a signed and witnessed parent consent form.
  8. Each rider must wear a crash helmet.
  9. A team may use more than 1 bicycle during the event.
  10. All bicycles must have and use lights from 17:15 (sunset).
  11. Teams may have as many bikes per team as they want/need. Only 1 bike per team on the course at a time
  12. The full route must be completed for a lap to count. No short cuts allowed, even with a broken bicycle. The lap must be completed until the rider gets to the pit area where the repairs can be executed.

Troops and packs who have floating trophies for the individual categories, please return them this year so that there is no confusion and we can award them again.
