Western Cape Jamborees: 1960 Report
Simonstown: Jamborally
The Boy Scout Jamborally was held at the former General Botha Camp on Red Hill, Simonstown on the 9th and 10th January 1960 and was attended about 440 Scouts.
There were trips around the Peninsula, helped by a donation of GBP 50 from the Lion's Club and visits to the Simonstown dockyards. The whole camp were the guests of the Simonstown Municipality at Sea Forth Beach.
At the official closing about 1,500 scouts, parents and guests watched the entertainment provided by the Scouts. One group, disguised - as girls, put on a mannequin parade, another gave short plays, and a third sang songs.
Mr. E. Rutter, the Deputy Divisional Commissioner of the Western Cape, said that the Jamborally had been a great success and he thanked everyone who had made the Scouts so welcome.
Among those present at the striking of camp was Mr. Ralph Egenes, the District Commissioner.

- Natal 91
- Midlands 53
- Border 72
