Colin Stretton "Kiewit" (1934-2025) dedicated decades of service to the former Cape Midlands Area and the Eastern Cape Region, and to the Humewood Sea Scout Troop in particular.

Colin joined Scouts in 1948. As an adult leader, he attended the 13th World Jamboree in Japan (where he met Neil Armstrong) and the 14th World Jamboree in Norway.

His group newsletter, The Lighthouse, won the HV Marsh Award for Scout Journalism three times in the 1960s. Later, he edited Outtray, the official newsletter for Cape Eastern Area, which was published online from 2000 to 2006, and the national newsletter Scouting About from 2002 to 2014.

In 2004 he was awarded with the Order of the Silver Springbok and he was awarded the 60 Year Bar to his Long Service Award in 2010.

Colin died on 18 December 2025, one day before his 91st birthday.
