This is a challenge that can be used as a game and used to practice the basic knotting skills. It can also be used in a relay game.

This involves tying six basic knots:

The authenticated world record is 8.1 seconds, set by Clinton R. Bailey, Sr. in 1977. IGKT members have discussed proposals for formal rules to govern future attempts on this record.

Other ideas

  • Create an individual leaderboard table on the Noticeboard with personal best times.
  • Find the sequence of knots that gives the best change-overs from one knot to the next.
  • Sign-off: A scout who has successfully completed this challenge can ask to sign-off tasks 24 to 29 in the Travellers Advancement tasks
